Coastal Adaptation Plan – Fraser Flood Management Plan
Vancouver, BC
Climate change is driving significant changes to Vancouver’s coastline. We will expect frequent and severe flooding from sea level rise and storm surge. We helped develop a Coastal Adaptation Plan to assist the City of Vancouver to become more resilient. The study identifies risk, consequences, and vulnerabilities of our lands and infrastructure to future sea level rise.
The collaborative stakeholder process including Musqueam First Nation, identified community values and concerns. Adaptation strategies were communicated into clear and simple diagrams to help people understand the long term impacts. This groundbreaking study is about respect for the environment and green infrastructure. It is about creating a more resilient future with consideration to natural processes, civic engagement, and strategic thinking.
