New Brighton Park Wetland Restoration

The 5-acre salt marsh restores coastal wetland habitat on the south shore of Burrard Inlet and supports the Park Board’s Strategic Plan, Re-wilding Action Plan, and Biodiversity Strategy. This collaborative venture included the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation, along with Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.

The design creates a regenerative healthy ecosystems and enhances nature in the city and included: public consultation, salt marsh and habitat island, viewing platforms, trail network, biodiverse vegetation restoration, picnic, enhanced beach access, and an off-leash dog park.
