Seal Cove Waterfront Park

Prince Rupert, BC

The community-based design transforms this underused waterfront setting into a community destination experience connecting the Rushbrook Trail and waterfront greenway.

The intertidal salt marsh and eelgrass beds will be restored to improve fish, marine, and riparian habitat. The park will include perimeter lighting and pathway, retain historic wooden trestle, daylight the creek with feature pedestrian bridge, add cedar seating, picnicking, and interpretive signage. The gently terraced open meadow area allows for flexible use recreational space and spectacular views to the harbour and mountains.

This project exemplifies habitat restoration and biodiversity, shoreline resilience and responding to sea level rise. At the community level this is a great place to recreate, enjoy, and rejuvenate.
