Work to restore and upgrade the public plaza of the Gulf of Georgia Cannery (National Historic Site) is well underway. This is one of several sites that have received federal funding leading up to Canada’s 150th birthday.
We are very excited about the progress of construction and are looking forward to the completion which will be in time for Canada Day Celebrations. Phase 1 landscape works include a new plaza for gatherings, farmers markets, celebrations and interpretative activities. The upgrades will provide a significant upgrade to one of Canada’s best-kept National Historic Sites.
The Gulf of Georgia Cannery celebrates Canada’s historic fishing industry and we’re proud to be working with the Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society, Public Works and Services Canada, and Parks Canada on this important project.
