The Teck Acute Care Centre (BC Children’s and Women’s Hospital) will integrate multiple outdated care facilities into one new state-of-the-art facility. The vision is to provide a bright, modern facility that affords every patient a room of their own, where a parent can comfortably stay with their child overnight. Natural light, fresh air, and interaction with nature have been driving principles in the design. Sharp & Diamond is working collaboratively with ZGF, CEI, Ledcor, and Balfour Beatty.
The project is currently underway and will feature new arrivals and drop-off, retaining the existing treed Ring Road, thematic children’s health and wellness gardens, wellness walks, and accessible rooftop sensory gardens.
